Our first night in Borrego Springs Katie and I arrived earlier than we had expected, but still late enough for the residence of Borrego Springs to have called it a night. We were hungry so we yelped a nearby restaurant, Big Horn Bar & Grill, which is inside the Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort. It had 4.5 stars and was one of the few places still open at 7pm, so we decided to give it a try.
When we walked in we could see a small store to the left and the dinning room ahead. It was completely empty except for 2 guys at a table eating dinner and the workers milling around. We sat at a high top and quickly read through the menu. Our waitress stopped by and took our order, nachos and burgers. We debated getting a drink or two since the prices were so cheap, but decided not to.
A few minutes later our food arrived. The nachos was the first thing we dove into. They had gooey cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, green onions, and chicken. It was amazing. Next I ate my Western Burger with onion rings, bacon, and BBQ sauce and sweet potato fries with maple syrup on them. Katie had her Jalapeño Burger and their regular seasoned fries. Both meals were so surprisingly delicious that there was none leftover.
We left Big Horn Bar & Grill stuffed to the max and extremely happy we had stopped. Next time we are in Borrego Springs we will be going back. Fair prices and big portions on awesome tasting food is always something we welcome.
At Mohegan Sun, a casino in Connecticut, there are several places to stop and get food. One of the most well known restaurants is Bobby’s Burger Palace. With several locations on the east coast of the United States it is home to the Crunch Burger. They also sell shakes, salads and sandwiches to choose from. With so many options you will be sure to find something to satisfy your hunger anytime day or night.
After Aschlee and Jason’s wedding in Groton we headed over to continue our celebration at Mohegan Sun. As the night got later Becky, Dway, Michelle and I got hungry. Before going back to the hotel we decided to stop and get some burgers.
I ordered the Crunch Burger, a burger with potato chips on it and some 1/2 and 1/2 fries. We waited for our orders to come out and headed back to the hotel. We couldn’t wait to get back to eat so we picked at our fries. The sweet potato fries were delicious, super sweet and held their flavor even when they were cold. The regular fries were not quite as good.
The burger was ok. I think it would have tasted better if I had gotten to eat it right away. I had to wait until we got back to the hotel, about a 20 minute drive, until I could try it. The potato chips, which I expected to be crispy had turned soft from the heat and steam of the burger, but the taste was still good. The salty chips offset the sweet burger bun.
If you’re at Mohegan Sun and looking for a place to eat Bobby’s Burger Palace is definitely a good place to try. Home to the Crunch Burger, eating it right away will make a difference and make it taste better, but if you can’t it will still be ok. So go try it.
After a trip to Lands End Lookout Katie and I were extremely hungry. We decided to try Sunset Reservoir Brewing Company just down the road from Katie’s friend’s house in San Francisco. We walked down her street and onto the main street. A few blocks later we arrived at the front door. We almost missed it as they don’t have a sign or anything posted other than a small menu in the window.
We walked inside and were seated right away in a wooden booth. It wasn’t that busy for a Saturday night. I had expected it to be a lot more crowded, but the small groups were generally relaxed and chill. We ordered the Sunset Burger and Bowl of Wings. Both of which were really good.
We split our orders. The wings came first and I thought the sauce was super spicy. Katie, however, thought it was perfect. With or without the sauce the chicken was scrumptious. Next came the burger and it was delicious as well, with bacon, cheddar cheese, and 1000 Island dressing. Katie got a sampler of their beer to try as well.
We finished our meal and drinks and headed back to Cathy’s house, full of yummy food. If you’re in San Francisco and looking for a place to eat you should check Sunset Reservoir Brewing Company out.
After my friend and my hike at Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks we were starving. An 8 mile hike to Lizard Rock and Paradise Falls will do that to you. Hardly able to think straight and completely exhausted we decided on burgers. We yelped the area and Stacked: Food Built Well came up. They had 4 stars and their burger pictures looked amazing. We immediately headed over there to get something to eat.
The employees at Stacked sat us right away and the hostess gave us a tutorial on how to use their ordering iPad since it was our first time. Here waiters and waitresses don’t take your orders like usual, you use a touch screen iPad to pick and choose what you want. We ordered our drinks with just a push of a button, sending them to the kitchen. We then browsed through the menus they gave us. You can order almost anything you want at Stacked. They have a variety of foods including pizza, burgers, salads and even mac ‘n cheese. You can even customize and create your own meals.
As we waited for our drinks to arrive we ordered our burgers through their touch screen service. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and chili cheese fries and I can’t remember what Arpy ordered, but it was some kind of burger and onion rings I think. We waited patiently until our food was made and brought to our table. Boy did it look good. We quickly devoured all of it, leaving no table scrap behind. We were stuffed and in food comas before we left, but it was well worth it and we deserved it.
Give Stacked: Food Well Built a try next time you are in Thousand Oaks. It’s innovating ordering machines, customizing food selections are sure to keep you satisfied and having fun throughout your meal.
